The Sous Vide Machine is the best all around sous vide machine you can buy. It’s priced right, looks great, performs with the best of them. I’m here to help you make that dream a reality. If you just want to find the best deal, I’ve got you covered.
You need an even surface and they don’t recommend marble, Corian, or other heat sensitive materials. No problem there since you can easily use a trivet or two as protection. You also need to be near an outlet to plug the unit in – not usually a problem in most kitchens and definitely not mine.
As you can see from the photos the sous vide is a wand shaped immersion circulator. It measures LxWxH=36.5x10x7.6CM. That’s easily storable and/or transportable.
A nice, easy setup. It’s got an adjustable ring clamp that will fit onto pretty much anything you want . That should work with any stock pot or dutch oven type container you have in your kitchen. If you want, you could even use it with a cooler or other kind of thermal container. Once you’ve tightened the clamp onto your pot with the bottom knob, you slip the circulator into the clamp ring and turn the top knob tight to lock it in. No muss, no fuss. Keep in mind that the clamp is plastic, so over-tightening could make it crack.
It’s all touch control on the face of the display. There’s a scroll wheel right below it to select the time or temp of your choice. The display is clear and easy to read. You can choose C° or F° by holding the Play/Start button for 3 seconds. Once you set it, the unit will remember the next time you turn it on. Smart!
Precise. Very precise. The circulators are calibrated to what’s called a “scientific platinum primary standard”. That basically means they’re far more accurate than a typical thermometer you can buy in a store.
It’s a breeze. First off, it’s only supposed to go in water and never in direct contact with food. When it needs a clean, the stainless steel skirt is easily removable. It just twists off. You can throw it, and the plastic pump cap, right into the dishwasher. If the circulator needs cleaning, just apply a little dish soap with a soft tooth brush and some TLC then rinse. Just make sure it’s cooled off before you touch it! And remember, don’t get the top part of the circulator wet. It’s got sensitive electrical stuff inside that could get damaged and void your warranty. If you live somewhere with hard water it’s a good idea to disassemble and clean after use to prevent build up.
What’s In The Box?
I love this unit. It’s everything I could ask for in a sous vide machine today. It would be great if it included a cook book and/or general guidelines for sous vide cooking. It’s not a big deal as there’s lots of online resources for that.
I hope you got some insights to make it easier for you to decide on buying the sous vide.
